The Uyghur NextGen Project is a U.S. based, ally-run, 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to supporting the Uyghur diaspora in the face of religious and ethnic persecution. Uyghur NextGen seeks to both raise awareness and support for the Uyghur people as well as foster a broader understanding of its language, history, and culture. We are committed to bringing together young people around the world to empower the next generation of Uyghur youth.

Saim Ali

Saim is a graduate of New York University and is currently a first-year med student at UVM. Throughout his education, Saim has focused on learning about East Asian history, specifically Modern Chinese History and Mandarin. As a practicing Muslim and admirer of Chinese culture, Saim hopes to support the Uyghur community through Istanbul-based service projects. He also believes that raising awareness, especially among the United States youth population, is key to making long-term, sustainable change.

Oliver Crane

Vice President - Head of Operations

Oliver is a graduate of Princeton University where he majored in History with a focus on East Asia and a minor in International Relations. His senior thesis was an oral history of the Uyghur community in Pakistan titled “Nowhere to Run: The Role of Sino-Pakistani Relations in the Transnational Repression of Uyghurs (1979-2020).” Oliver currently works as an Analyst at Rudius Management, a NYC-based investment partnership. Oliver believes in the importance of taking concrete acts to support the Uyghur community.
