Our Principles

Our Mission:

The Uyghur NextGen Project seeks to preserve Uyghur culture, history, and language in the face of one the most advanced and total ethnic persecutions in human history. We work to achieve this mission by providing support for Uyghur-run projects run by and in support of members of the diaspora community. Although direct support of Uyghurs in Xinjiang is practically impossible, our organization seeks to encourage legal advocacy around the world as well, in an effort to achieve larger-scale change in the region. Until such change comes, our organization will continue to empower the next generation so that they may carry the torch onwards and ensure the Uyghur people prosper, regardless of any political solution.

As a U.S. based organization, we also view our local awareness and education efforts to be important to our mission. We believe that there is not enough of a concerted effort in the United States to go beyond the troubling headlines about the ongoing persecution in Xinjiang. While it is certainly our highest priority to raise awareness of these ongoing crimes against the Uyghur people, Uyghur NextGen strives to prevent such horrors from completely overshadowing, in the minds of the international community, the incredibly rich culture and history of the Uyghur people and East Turkestan. By emphasizing that culture and history around the world, we seek to preserve cultural continuity between this generation of Uyghurs and the next, a mission essential to defeating the Chinese government’s ongoing cultural genocide in Xinjiang.

Why support our organization?

Our organization’s raison d’etre is to be the most efficient avenue by which the international community can directly support the Uyghur people. Our team at the Uyghur NextGen Project is dedicated to doing the most with the resources at our disposable. This means that we do not take salaries and make it our utmost priority to limit any secondary administrative costs. This is important to us because we founded this organization in order to achieve better transparency and efficiency in Uyghur oriented aid work. Fortunately, our small size allows us to keep such costs at a minimum while maximizing the amount of immediate aid we can provide the Uyghur diaspora. Additionally, we thoroughly vet all our development projects and keep detailed records of the direct ways in which donor funds are used for the support of the Uyghur community.
